School In Kealekukua
Hundreds of glittering fish swam past me as we snorkled in the Big Island's Kealekekua Bay on September 30, 2001. I'm swimming just under the surface in maybe three or four feet of water over a reef, but facing into the deep indigo waters of the bay. It was a little unsettling to swim above this underwater precipice, where the waters receded into darkness despite their crystalline clarity.
